Duxford Imperial War Museum & American Air Show

Duxford is the place to be to experience WW2 legends like the Spitfire, Hurricane and Mustang. On the 27th of July their also was an airshow connected to the close ties between the UK and US. Due to the position of the sun and the fairly high position of the flying displays not all shots were satisfactory. Nevertheless a small collection is presented here.

RAF Waddington & RAF Cottesmore

In July a week was spent in eastern UK to visit some major airfileds of the RAF and USAFE. The last few days were not blessed with the best of weather. An exeption was Cottesmore on the 26th of July, but unfortunately operational flying was minimal due to a families day.

RAF Coningsby

RAF Coningsby is home to no less than four Typhoon squadrons a weapons evaluation unit and the famous Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Although the weather wasn't favourable the Typhoons flew very good, which gave us plenty of excellent photo oppurtunities.

RAF Marham

RAF Marham is one of the two homebases of the Tornado GR.4 variant, RAF's main ground attack plane.

22/23/24-07-2007

RAF Mildenhall & RAF Lakenheath

At the start of our July trip to the UK both USAFE bases were visited. Mildenhall saw some weekend activity of transporters and tankers and during weekdays Lakenheath was only active with A-10's from Spangdahlem which were on TDY at Lakenheath due to runway repairs at their homebase. No Eagles were seen during the two days we visited Lakenheath.
